Plumber's putty?
I just a bought a new kitchen faucet and the instructions say to use plumber's putty when installing. (I replaced the faucet I have now and did not use it and never had any problems.) I looked on Lowe's website and it says that some Faucets have a plastic or rubber gasket and the putty is not necessary.
My question is, since mine came with a plastic gasket, is it really necessary to use the putty as well, or can I go without it?
Thanks, that's what I thought. I would just hate to get it installed, turn on the water, then find I should have used it in the first place.
I installed a new kitchen faucet about a month ago and used the plastic 'gasket' that came with it with no plumbers putty...
Today I am re-installing it with plumbers putty because it started leaking. You can purchase enough putty to do the job for about $2, it'll only take 10 extra minutes, and you can be confident you've done the best job possible.
If you don't want to replace your countertop / cabinets I would certainly suggest the use of plumbers putty.
(Don't take my word for it, ask a plumber)
