Long Faucet Pipe

Long Faucet Pipe
We got a new well pump and our sump pump is flowing like a turned on faucet constantly - what is wrong?

Today we had a new pump installed on our well. Later this afternoon I heard our sump pump running like crazy. It keeps "flushing" and water keeps draining it in at the rate that a faucet would flow water out in the bathroom to wash your hands. The company that installed the pump won't come out until Monday and I'm feeling a bit worried waiting that long! Could they have broken a pipe going into the house while installing the new pump? I hear the sound of running water like in the pipes even when none is on. How can I diagnose the problem and what can I do about it?

(Normally our sump pump has water dripping in but never at this rate)

Your pump is pumping water into someplace that is causing your sump to run.

There are two dangers here, the first being that your pump will burn up by Monday, or that you'll flood.

I suggest checking your sink water pressure, does it feel normal? Can you turn off the breaker to the pump and see if the sump stops pumping this water after a while (if they arent on the same breaker)?

I would call the company's emergency number though, and tell them to get out there NOW or you'll call another company and have them bill them, or you'll take them to court for the other companies fee's if it's found that they caused the issue.

Either way, find someone that has some mechanical ability to check it NOW!
